Fourth Graders Code Online Games with their Kindergarten Buddies In Mind

Fourth graders considered their kindergarten buddies when building their latest video games, creating interactive and educational games online. Like real game developers, they built what they thought would appeal most to the target audience, using bright animations with themes including under the sea, fashion, and sports to appeal to their young friends, while also challenging them to age-appropriate math problems and reinforcing the rules of spelling.

Once fourth graders drafted their first version of their game, they ventured to the kindergarten classroom to let the students be real-life beta testers. Kindergarteners squealed with delight as they played along, unlocking new levels and surpassing the game’s challenges.

Once completed, fourth graders surveyed their testers, looking for feedback on visuals, complexity, and even the level of fun they had. Based on the data they collected, fourth graders will make adjustments to their games and return in two weeks to show their buddies the newly improved versions of their games!
