The Upper School Art program blends traditional art with contemporary and technologic mediums and processes. Each grade level is guided by an essential question such as "What is the role of the artist in our world?", "How do I develop my unique voice as an artist?", "How can art foster change?", "How can a singular subject produce new ideas?"
- Digital Portfolios: Students photograph their work and maintain a self-reflective, digital portfolio.
- Laser-Cutter: Along with traditional machinery and tools, a laser-cutter gives students greater precision and the ability to integrate more complex designs.
- Inksploration Project: After studying traditional ink painting, students use non-traditional materials and technique to create contemporary ink artwork.
- Art as a Prompt for Learning: The Upper School Art program works to make art a classroom presence across all subject areas. Utilizing the myriad art and museum resources available in the tri-state area, the department works with teachers across the curriculum to infuse creativity and art history into other disciplines at Peck and to use art as a touchpoint to benefit learning in any subject area.
