Applying to Peck

How to Apply

The Peck School welcomes enthusiastic students from a variety of backgrounds and heritages, family types, and neighborhoods—children who are excited to learn, and who come with their own unique voices to enrich our vibrant community. Our step-by-step admissions process is designed to provide ample opportunity for your family to get to know our school—and for us to get to know you and your child.

Please note that we are conducting our admissions process as an in-person/virtual hybrid process, according to your comfort level and current state and local health guidelines, as we navigate the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We know this is a challenging time for parents, and we are making every effort to ensure that you feel supported through the application process, can explore Peck further in various media, speak with administrators and faculty as needed, and have any questions answered in a timely manner.

The steps below outline our current admissions process, which will be in place until the local environment necessitates any changes. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.

*Please note that inquiries for entrance to all grades are welcomed throughout the year. However, optimal opportunity for enrollment exists when applying prior to January 15 for the upcoming school year.

List of 7 items.

  • Step 1: Schedule a Parent Meeting

Typically 30 minutes long, these personalized visits with a member of our Admissions Team provide time for parents to ask questions and share specific information about their child, as well as allow our Admissions Team to get to know your family better.

Parents will come away from their meeting with a sense of Peck's culture, its academic program, and myriad opportunities that life at Peck could afford their child.

We offer both in-person and virtual Parent Meetings according to your preferences, which can also be conveniently scheduled right here from our Visit Us page!
  • Step 1a (optional): Tour our Campus

We are excited to offer in-person tours of select campus learning spaces this fall! To ensure that we can safely maintain an appropriate physical distance for everyone on campus, we will be holding these tours on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4:10 to 4:40 p.m., after our students and teachers have been dismissed for the day.

Although not required, children are welcome to accompany you.

We also invite you to get an insider’s look at our warm, dynamic community and vibrant spaces on our Visit Us page, which features videos and 360 tours highlighting life at Peck.

To make the most of the tour, parents should first schedule their in-person or virtual Parent Meeting! Tour scheduling will happen after the parent meetings is complete.
  • Step 2: Fill out our Online Application

Peck’s secure online application acts as an easy and efficient guide for families to stay on track throughout the admissions process. Applications submitted prior to January 15 will receive early March notification. Applications submitted thereafter will be on a rolling basis as space allows.

There is a non-refundable application fee of $75. Apply prior to November 1 and use the code peckpride2021 to waive the fee!

The online application creates a password-protected candidate file for your child, which you can access anytime. You will be able to upload information, get notifications when we process your documents, and communicate with our office online along the way.

As always, we place a high value on personal interaction and invite you to contact us by phone (973-539-8660, ext.108) or email Admissions Assistant Wanda Fiorini at wfiorini@peckschool.org at any point throughout the process.

At this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to offer an in-person student visit. That said, we would still love the opportunity to virtually "meet" your child, have a conversation, and allow them to ask any questions about Peck that they may have.

For Kindergarten Applicants: Our office will arrange for your child to participate in a 20-minute virtual share session with our Kindergarten teachers and a small group of applicants.  These occur November through February.

Our goal in evaluating each applicant is to ensure a happy and successful placement within our academic program.  With this goal in mind, we assess applicants in Grades K through 8 to look at both at the child’s present level of achievement and at their aptitude for future learning.

Kindergarten Screening (Oct. - Feb.): One-on-one screenings will be conducted virtually with a proctor. You will be contacted by the Admissions Office to schedule your child's session.

Grades 1-2 Student Assessment: An individualized virtual session will be scheduled by the Admissions Office.

Regardless of affiliation, all applicants must meet the admissions standards of the school. All applicants will receive an admissions decision notification upon completion of the process.

Please note that inquiries for entrance to all grades are welcomed throughout the year. However, optimal opportunity for enrollment exists when applying prior to January 15 upcoming school year.
