Peck Unites Under the Sun: Students, Faculty, and Staff Gather for Solar Eclipse Viewing Party!

The Peck School community united in awe and wonder on Solar Eclipse day, coming together to witness this rare celestial event as a school. With eager anticipation, students, faculty, and staff all gathered on the quad, equipped with special solar eclipse glasses—some adorned with creative decorations by students themselves.
This memorable experience was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Science Department Chair Dr. Kathy Kennedy, who spearheaded the event's organization. Months in advance, Dr. Kennedy meticulously coordinated the procurement of eclipse glasses, ensuring that every member of the Peck community could safely observe the phenomenon.

The science department kept the excitement alive by sharing trivia and facts about what to expect during this extraordinary event, while Upper School Science Teacher Tim Loveday created a Solar Eclipse-inspired playlist to jam out with his classes. Our science department’s fun approach not only enhanced everyone's understanding, but also heightened anticipation for the main event.

As the moon gradually obscured the sun, casting an ethereal shadow over the school grounds, a sense of unity and wonder enveloped the Peck community. Together, we marveled at the cosmic spectacle unfolding above us, forging shared memories that will be cherished for years to come.

“The success of this event underscores the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that defines the Peck School community. Through initiatives like these, we continue to foster a culture of curiosity, exploration, and togetherness, enriching the educational experience for all,” said Dr. Kennedy.
