The Piano
First Grade Homeroom Teacher Christa Nees came full circle to her childhood as she revisited her love of the piano.
"Once upon a time there was a little girl," said Nees, "who was entranced by her Aunt Joanna's William Knabe & Co. grand piano."
Nees told the story of her renewed commitment to learning piano through the eyes of her childhood, reminiscing about visiting her aunt's pristine apartment overlooking the Hudson River. Among all of the items in her aunt's living spaces (many of which were antiques she was not allowed to touch) she particularly loved the grand piano.
While she began taking piano lessons as a child, she quickly found herself wrapped up in a host of other interests, from school to band to part-time jobs, and more. Having inherited her aunt's piano, it sat unused throughout a large part of her adulthood—until her 2015 Ben Alexander Grant gave her the perfect opportunity to carve out dedicated time to reacquaint herself with the magic of the piano.
