Faculty & Staff Recognition Assembly

Teachers at The Peck School are well known for their dedication to their students, to their craft, and to the school community. For many, that dedication also means a literal dedication of years of service to educating tomorrow’s leaders, thinkers, and change-makers.
During Peck’s winter Kairos Assembly (which highlights the school’s core values and community connections), special recognition was given to three longtime members of the Peck faculty and staff for their dedication and commitment to the school and its students. It is a Peck tradition to present faculty and staff who achieve their 10-year milestone an engraved Peck Crystal Apple.

This year, we had two members of our community who had not yet been recognized and celebrated for their many years of dedicated service to Peck: Director of Security Tim Cooney and Hector Gallego from FLIK Dining.

In recognition of Officer Cooney’s 12 years, Head of School Andy Delinsky noted on behalf of our community: “Thank you for your willingness to help wherever and whenever it’s needed, for your kindness, sense of humor, compassion and consideration of others; for taking the time to truly know people, both students and adults, and for the many small gestures you make to help people feel that they belong, we thank you for your care and concern for every member of our community, and for the school as a whole.”

In recognition of Mr. Gallego’s 15 years, Delinsky said on behalf of our community: “Thank you for your timeless commitment and dedication to helping serve, cook, clean, and care for all of us here at Peck; for being a light every day in the lunchroom and spreading sincere joy to all of the students who interact with you; for all the second desserts you’ve lovingly given hungry Peck students over the years, and for your clear love of your job and the ability to make anyone’s day a good one.”

Additionally, Delinsky presented Peck’s Faculty and Staff Award for Community Connections, endowed and created in memory of past Peck parent David Schnur by the Schnur family.

This award was created to honor David’s legacy as a father, husband, son, brother, teacher, and mentor and to acknowledge the care and support their family received from Peck faculty and staff during their time of need. The award honors a faculty or staff member who creates and nurtures authentic and meaningful connections with students at The Peck School that help foster growth, belonging, and transformation.

Selected via nominations from faculty and staff, School Nurse Colleen Loughman received the award.

“Thank you for your selflessness, building genuine connections, filling their buckets, and brightening their spirits," said Delinsky. "Thank you for creating a safe space for students, which allows them to feel a sense of belonging and ultimately helps students grow and build comfort and confidence. Thank you for loving, protecting, and cherishing every student here.”
