World Cultures Assembly: Spotlight on Romania

At Peck’s World Culture Assemblies, students and families dive deep into the heart of cultural diversity, showcasing the unique traditions that shape our world.
Recently, Eva T. ‘28 and her mom led a captivating exploration of their homeland, Romania. The dynamic duo gave us a comprehensive tour, from scenic landscapes and landmarks, to climate and culture, to traditional foods and famous figures.

Eva’s class then took to the stage to perform a traditional Romanian folk dance called Alunelul, a fast-paced dance with lots of movement and intricate steps. Peck second, third, and fourth graders have all been learning about this traditional dance in their Lower School Music Class with Ms. Wichman, and even added their own special twist on the performance by adding sticks to help them keep up with the rhythm.
To conclude the assembly, Eva tested the crowd’s newly acquired knowledge of Romania by leading an interactive quiz with her peers.

Be sure to mark your calendars for World Cultures Night on Friday, May 18 as we celebrate the many different cultures that make our Peck community so special!
