Local News Media Spotlight Peck Musicians

Local news media have announced the list of finalists for the 11th Annual Morristown Onstage 2018 contest at the Mayo Performing Arts Center on February 28th, 2018. Among the contestants are The Peck School’s favorite sibling piano duet – Franklin and Austin Mau. The Mau brothers have performed individually and as a duet on a variety of occasions, including appearances at young talent showcases at Carnegie Hall. At the Morristown Onstage competition, they will give a four-handed rendition of Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms.
The Annual Morristown Onstage Competition raises funds for The Morris Educational Foundation. Last year the competition raised more that $126,000 to support cultural programs and equal opportunities for students in the local school district. The competition will be judged by the Emmy-nominated producer, Tara Bernie, and awards prizes up to $1000 to performers.

In an interview with the online publication Morristown Green, Franklin Mau said, “Our music teacher recommended this to us for experience so we decided to try out, and we made it. It feels good performing in front of family, and that we’re sharing our music to different people in the world.”

Should they win the grand prize, the brothers admit, they may keep some of their winnings, but they also plan to “give the money back to the community, to the food pantry.” Thanks Austin and Franklin for putting your talents to use in consideration of others!
