An Innovative Sports Podcast Incubated in the Capstone Lab

The Capstone Lab at Peck is in its fourth year. View our first "docu-mini" and check out our first project highlight - "Sports Rewind" - a unique  NFL podcast created entirely by three eighth-grade students at Peck...
“If you give an eighth grader a chance to design a class, something individually meaningful and big enough to stretch across a year, what would happen? How would it turn out?” asks Chris Weaver, Director of Curriculum and Faculty Development in his 2016 blog post entitled, “What an Eighth Grader Can Do.”

Weaver is now entering his fourth year facilitating the capstone lab with students in their final year at Peck. This year, we are following our student’s progress as they brainstorm ideas, get their projects up and running, and seek to “stick the landing” during the culminating presentation of their projects to a panel of faculty and an audience of their peers.

Now that their projects are up and running for the 2019-20 school year, we are highlighting these “works-in-progress” on our social media channels and website news.

Our first highlight features an exciting new podcast that is under development by a team of three students. Matteo Littman, Paul Salerno, and Daniel Hendrickson are hard at work generating episodes of “Sports Rewind.”

In their capstone project plan, they differentiate their NFL-based podcast from others by saying, “Sports Rewind is a calm podcast. It is something that you can kick off your morning with, whether you drive to school, work, or wherever. The real difference, however, is that we are right. A lot of people have fantasy teams and love to gamble. We have been more correct than ESPN for several weeks.”

Their confidence must be warranted. They have already surpassed the 300-listener milestone. You can judge for yourself by listening here:
