Peck’s Spring Sing Showcases the Creativity and Spirit of its Community

Peck’s 2026 Spring Sing brought together students from every grade level for a joyful morning filled with music, movement, creativity, and school spirit. Featuring vocals, instruments, handbells, choreography, and props, the annual performance highlighted both the breadth of Peck’s music program and the enthusiasm students bring to the stage.


A beloved tradition for decades, The Spring Sing is held each year as part of Grandparents & Friends Day, alongside the Showcase of the Arts and the spirited Downy-Redhead field events and tug-of-war competitions. The celebration welcomes grandparents, special friends, and families to campus for one of the school’s most anticipated community days of the year.


The concert opened with a processional performance of “Festival Intrada” by the Wednesday Ringers handbell ensemble, followed by welcoming remarks from Head of School Andy Delinsky.


Lower School students then took the stage under the direction of Lower School Music Director Lisa Wichman. Grades 1–4 opened with Harry Belafonte’s “Turn the World Around,” accompanied by a student percussion ensemble and colorful props, while Grades 3 and 4 followed with “Fifty Nifty United States.”


Kindergarten students drew plenty of laughter with “What Does the Fox Say?” when teachers Adam Spadafora and Dave Carlo surprised the audience with a cameo appearance in fox costumes. Students in Grades K–2 followed with “The Kindergarten Wall,” before the Lower School Chorus performed “America the Beautiful,” featuring narration by History Teacher Sue Longenecker alongside eighth graders Julieta A., Hadley B., and Patrick M.


One of the morning’s standout moments came during the chorus’ performance of “Fireflies,” when students illuminated the darkened auditorium with tiny flashlights, creating the effect of glowing fireflies throughout the room.


Grades 1–4 later energized the audience with a FIFA World Cup-inspired performance of “Waka Waka! (This Time for Africa),” featuring student ukulele players, percussionists, and vibrant props. The Lower School portion concluded with an American Sign Language interpretation of “God Bless America,” led by Kelley Nelson, and the lively Irish folk song “Hi! Ho! The Rattlin’ Bog,” accompanied by a student rhythm band.


The second half of the concert shifted to the Upper School, beginning with the Friday Ringers’ (handbell ensemble) performance of “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” featuring flute accompaniment by Declan Weng.


Under the direction of Upper School Music Director Sebastian Guerrero, students performed “The Never Ending Story” and “Stand By Me,” which featured a violin solo by Eric J. ‘26 alongside eighth-grade ukulele and xylophone ensembles. The Wednesday Ringers returned with a comedic and technically challenging rendition of “The Muppet Show Theme,” while the Upper School Chorus performed the Georgia Sea Islands spiritual “Yonder Come Day,” featuring a vocal solo by Emily M. ‘27.


Another highlight came during “Best Day of My Life,” when singers in Grades 5–8 were joined by an eighth-grade percussion ensemble and members of Peck’s Concert Band horn section under the direction of Instrumental Director Ryan Haupt.


The performance concluded with “The Armed Forces Salute Medley,” featuring student announcers and flag bearers representing each branch of the military, before the Friday Ringers returned for a recessional performance of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
