September 5 marked the first day of the 2023-2024 academic year. A day that was met with much excitement, anticipation, and maybe even some nerves–for students and faculty alike.
A new school year means new experiences, new friendships, and many opportunities to learn and grow.
On the first day of school, our eighth-grade students took on the role of greeters at the Kindergarten, extending a warm welcome to the newest members of the Pride. As Lower School students exited their cars, our welcome team met them with a friendly handshake and exciting news about new homeroom assignments.
Head of School Andy Delinsky addressed the school community in the first all-school assembly of the year and had each class sound off in his annual “roll call,” celebrating each class as they enter the new year. To spotlight our newest class of eighth graders, Delinsky asked that they stand in recognition, with their younger peers looking up to them, as a symbol of their leadership to the classes that are to come after them.
“Let’s always be considerate of others. Let us look for ways to grow as people and as students through hard work and perseverance. Let us look at setbacks as opportunities, for we grow more from adversity and overcoming it rather than settling for what is easy,” said Delinsky.
New student council president, Sailee Shah ’24 welcomed her fellow classmates and the Peck community, encouraging everyone to have a great year while jokingly reminding them that there were only 274 days until summer break!
There was an energizing buzz in the air around campus as students reunited with friends and teachers, found their cubbies and new seating assignments, and noticed new additions to campus such as the planter boxes for our all-new community garden.
