This Thanksgiving season, The Peck School community celebrated in the spirit of gratitude with meaningful activities led by dedicated faculty and enthusiastic students. From giving back to the greater community to fostering connections across grade levels, students embraced the holiday season with thoughtfulness and generosity.
Fourth Grade's Impressive Food Drive
Fourth graders upheld their tradition of service with an impactful food drive to benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry. They collected an incredible 1,556 pounds of food, directly supporting local families in need. Their dedication and hard work embodied the gratitude and generosity that define The Peck School community.
Cards of Gratitude for Veterans
During the school’s “Reach Across” event, students from every grade collaborated to craft heartfelt cards of appreciation for veterans. This cherished tradition united the Peck community, giving students a chance to honor the service and sacrifices of those who have served the country.
Kindergarten's Bread Baking and Delivery
Kindergarteners dove into the Thanksgiving spirit by baking loaves of bread to share with Peck faculty and staff. In a touching display of appreciation, they personally delivered the bread, recognizing the many individuals who contribute to their school experience.
The Student Council's Thankful Turkey
Upper School students, guided by the Student Council, created a giant construction paper turkey with hand-shaped feathers. Each feather featured a personal note of thanks, turning the turkey into a vibrant symbol of gratitude. Now displayed in the dining hall, it serves as a daily reminder of the community's values.
Thanksgiving in Lower School Sports Classes
Lower School students brought energy and teamwork to a festive game of "Turkey Bombardment" during PE class. By working together to assemble a Thanksgiving table spread using equipment like basketballs and bowling pins, students mixed fun with collaboration in this holiday-themed activity.
All-School Thanksgiving Assembly
The All-School Thanksgiving Assembly capped off the week, bringing the community together one last time before the holiday break. Highlights included a rocking performance by Oliver W. ’25, Max E. ’25, and Keegan D. ’25, the presentation of Upper School Consideration of Others Awards, and the Peck community's perennial favorite, "A Turkey Knocked at My Backdoor," sung by the kindergarten!
