Fourth Graders Crack the Code on Responsible Tech Use

Fourth graders kicked off the year in Technology and Design with a wild goose chase through the Lower School!

Lower School Technology & Design Integrator Jen Garvey sent students on a scavenger hunt designed to introduce important expectations around technology and AI use. Working in small groups, students followed clues throughout the building, answering questions correctly before they could advance to their next stop.

Along the way, students learned important guidelines—from using AI only with teacher permission to understanding why school-issued laptops should not be customized. The activity got students moving, problem-solving, and collaborating while reinforcing responsible technology use.

“Technology gives our students so many opportunities to create, explore, and learn, but it’s important that they understand how to use these tools responsibly,” Garvey said. “This was a fun way to establish those expectations and bring Peck's Responsible Use Policy to life while while getting them working together and thinking critically from day one.”
