Gr. 3 Sculpture and Art

Walking into the Lower School Art Classroom presents an impressive display of color and form, as our third graders were completing their relief sculptures.
The relief sculptures they created were inspired by the work of Louise Nevelson, an artist known for creating large sculptures from found wood pieces, and painting them in monochromatic black, white, or gold. The third grade looked at images of her work and used found objects to arrange their pieces, placing an emphasis on creating depth. Each student chose one color to paint the entire sculpture, and when they are completed will be hung on the wall in the arts hallway.
