The Arts
Woodworking

Beginning in third grade and continuing through eighth, Peck students experience a distinctive course of study in woodworking. Safety is the foundation of the program; all students learn and annually review safe habits for working in the woodshop.

During project planning, students brainstorm a list of all necessary construction steps, and then order them from start to finish to prepare a plan of procedures. Lower schoolers learn how to manipulate various hand tools---such as try squares, saws, rasps and files, abrasive paper, and adhesives---to craft simple projects.

Woodworking

Third graders make a joint art/woodworking project. As part of a cross-curricular arts/history unit of study, fourth graders create their own folk toy.
