Academics

Academics at Peck encourages and acknowledges diversity in the religious, racial, economic and ethnic composition of its student body. The curriculum is interactive and full of engaging opportunities for our students. Our Lower School is where our students from Kindergarten through 4th Grade learn, play and grow. Children in 5th through 8th Grade study, experiment, mature and complete their primary education in our Upper School.

Our Mission

The Peck School, founded in 1893, is an independent coeducational day school of approximately 300 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Maintaining a tradition as a "family school" and devoted to excellence in both learning and teaching, Peck seeks to educate the whole child by emphasizing:

  • an academically challenging curriculum;
  • the development of personal values, including a positive awareness of self, individual and consideration of others;
  • a caring and supportive environment; and
  • a community that embraces and celebrates a variety of talents, perspectives, and ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Helping students gain understanding of their learning style is an important part of what happens at Peck. All of us, young and old, have relative learning strengths and weaknesses. A student's figuring out 'what works', learning to manage time and balance responsibilties are steps to success.
