GIVING TO THE PECK SCHOOL

There are many ways to support The Peck School. Giving can be as simple as writing a check, making a gift in the form of securities, or requesting a matching gift from an employer. You may also choose to make The Peck School a beneficiary in your will or estate, and become a member of The Sutphen Society.

ANNUAL FUND

Consistent support of the Annual Fund is on-going and critical, as it is the Annual Fund that provides the crucial complement to the School's yearly tuition and endowment income. Parents, grandparents, past parents, faculty, staff, and friends form our committed group of supporters who ensure the School’s future. Every gift is important and conveys a vote of confidence in the mission of The Peck School. Pledge your gift to the annual fund now.

PLANNED GIVING

Planned Giving is an effective and mutually beneficial way of giving to The Peck School. By making a planned gift, you assist Peck in its mission of providing an academically challenging and distinctive elementary education, while enjoying the benefits of capital gains tax savings, increased income, and income-tax savings. Most importantly, a planned gift maximizes your giving potential while ensuring your future financial security and that of your loved ones.

Anyone who notifies The Peck School of a planned gift becomes a member of The Sutphen Society and will be recognized accordingly in the Annual Report.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS

Capital Campaigns support projects not otherwise funded by tuition. The Campaign for Peck, completed in June 2006, raised funds to build our new Athletic Center and the new Academic Building with state-of-the-art library.

As a community we benefit from the generosity of those who came before us and it is our obligation to give for the future. When these special projects arise, we ask members of the school community to participate with both an annual gift and a capital contribution. Once again, participation by every family is the key to success.

How do I make a gift?

There are many ways to support The Peck School. Giving to Peck can be as simple as writing a check, making a gift in the form of securities, or requesting a matching gift from an employer. For more information, see above.

Why is it important to give to the Annual Fund?

Funds raised through Annual Giving are spent during the current fiscal year and afford annual relief to the operational budget. The Annual Fund typically makes up 8-10 percent of the overall budget.

Tuition levels are intentionally kept as low as possible, covering only a portion of the actual cost of educating a child at Peck. Therefore, to bridge this tuition gap, every student receives financial aid provided by your Annual Fund donation. Gifts to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

How much should I give?

The dollar amount is important, but it’s only part of the story. We also have a participation goal. Over the last 10 years, the giving level for Peck parents has ranged between 78% and 90%. High participation is a vote of confidence, a sign that parents invest in their child’s education and support the School’s mission. A high percentage rate can also have an impact on gifts from outside sources such as foundations and corporations, who consider parent participation before committing funds to the School.

Who else is asked to give?

Everyone involved in the School. Donors include parents (past and present), alumni, trustees, faculty, administration, staff, grandparents, corporations, foundations, and other friends of The Peck School.
