Alumni from the 1980s Back on Campus!
Posted November 27
On an unusually warm and humid October evening, the Old Gym was humming with music from the 1980s--an appropriate prelude to meeting classmates and members of the Peck faculty from years gone by. With perseverance and spunk, the Reunion’s Chairs (Ellis Hensler Siedem ’82, Jamie Foley ’85, and Amie Quivey ’86; with a special mention to Ryan Foley ’87 for mobilizing all of his resources to reunite members of his class for their 25th), with the Peck Alumni Office, planned and produced a fantastic gathering of familiar faces that filled the site of past school assemblies, sings, graduations and--let’s not forget--until the mid 1980s, the lunch room!
Special moments, such as alumni greeting alumni, alumni greeting their former teachers, and faculty greeting their former colleagues, illustrate that there is much more to a Peck education than just "book-learning." For teachers and students, the clock stopped for a few moments and they were transported back to the 1980s.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Mr. Diebold announced that more Downies were in attendance than Redheads. A raucous cheer filled the Old Gym. Some traditions never die!
